Sensory Mapping
Sensory mapping is a method for observing and recording the city through vision, hearing, touch, and smell. It focuses on real-time experiential qualities, combining documentation and interpretation: capturing what is often unrecorded by photographs, architectural plans, or demographic data, and reconsidering how cities can support more responsive, human-centered design.
Mapped traces
of sound, light, airflow, surface textures, vegetation density, and ambient conditions across neighborhoods and public sites reveal how sensory environments shape movement, comfort, social interaction, and a sense of place.
This work remains ongoing, as I revisit locations, refine methods, and expand to new sites.
